A lot of children's books are written in a generic way, and it's so fun to find something that is so niche and passionately nuanced. It is written in a way that informs without lecturing or dumping information in a way that will lose a young reader. I've read this a half dozen times with my 6 year old already.
My friend's 5 year old daughter absolutely loves the book and demanded her father read it immediately the parcel was opened!
I had sent her a pair of 'Bugnoculars', so hopefully, the two will complement each other.
I got two of these, one we kept and I read it to my daughters age 7 and 10. They loved it. My 7 year old took one to school to donate as a learning resource. The children thoroughly enjoyed it and found it very informative.

Suitable for a range of ages, they prompted many questions and discussions, which continued on the beach! 1 set of the 2 books we sent to little Elsie in NZ. Her Daddy is a lecturer in Physical Oceanography out there, researching the effects of rising sea temperatures on the marine environment, and the books resonated deeply with him & his partner, and E was thrilled with them, from first opening. Essential bed time (& daytime!) reading :)
I’ve bought these two books for my grandsons, I adore them. They are beautifully written in rhyme and the illustrations are lovely. They introduce children to how we are connected to the ecosystem of the sea. They introduce important concepts in a positive inspiring way..
